I started my child care almost inadvertently in 1986 when I was forced to quit my job due to substandard child care for my young son. I understand that there is no better care than a mothers care. Today mothers must work to make ends meet and provide for their families too. We must not compromise our children or their safety because of these needs.
I found myself wondering what to do and very nervous about child care options. There were very few options for families and very little regulation twenty years ago. I found myself caring for family and friends children and realized very quickly how much I enjoyed being home with my own children. I did struggle with what quality child care looked like. I knew how to provide safety and love but there was so much more to know.
As time went on I found networks, support groups, and organizations geared towards enhancing the quality of child care for Oregon families. I quickly got involved and helped to write new regulations to ensure that Oregon was a leader in ensuring the best quality of care to children. I went back to school and earned my degree in early childhood education and currently continue to invest in my career by continuing my education.
Over the years I have become passionate about my child care and pride myself on my longevity and the reputation I have earned. I stay involved with many groups dedicated to child care, and continue to secure the quality of care our children need and deserve. I have made child care my passion and a life long career dedicating myself to the highest standards and quality of care.
I strive daily to meet the standards set forth by the state of Oregon and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I believe in the USDA guidelines for nutrition and follow and exceed their guidelines. I provide each child I care for a nurturing, stable, and consistent routine with love and sincerity.
I believe in family child care. I believe every child deserves to be safe, nurtured, and provided daily with consistency and stability. I believe in early education to foster children’s social and emotion development. I encourage every child to be self sufficient and confidant in themselves. I work with every child on language skills, social skills, and basic academics. Children are our most valuable resources and assets an investment in early education is an investment in everyone’s future.
